Each May and October, a cleanup is conducted at the City Public Works Garage (950 Benson Street). Spring cleanup begins the second Monday in May and runs for one week (due to COVID-19 the 2020 Spring Cleanup was June 22-27, 2020). Fall cleanup begins the first Monday in October and runs one week. The hours utilized for both cleanup operations are Monday through Friday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Spring and Fall Cleanup is provided for residents in the City of River Falls who have a utility bill through River Falls Municipal Utilities. This eligibility is a part of the CORE (COmpost and REcycling) fee which includes the Spring and Fall Cleanups, Compost Site and Electronic Recycling. Residents bringing items for disposal will be asked to present a form of identification OR a recent RFMU bill. People who do not qualify will not be allowed to dispose of their goods.
At the event, residents do not need to get out of their vehicles, as staff will transport the items from your vehicle to the dumpsters. When you arrive, please be respectful of the staff working the event. If you should have to roll down your window and talk to staff, masks are recommended.
