River Falls Municipal Utilities (RFMU) has once again received a Safety Award of Excellence from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for its safe operating practices in 2024. RFMU earned the Diamond designation, the highest level of award given by the APPA.
Over 200 utilities entered the annual Safety Awards for 2024. The entrants are placed in accordance with their number of worker-hours and ranked based on the most incident-free records and overall state of their safety programs and culture during 2024. The incidence rate is based on the number of work-related reportable injuries or illnesses and the number of worker-hours during 2024, as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
“We are proud to once again receive this recognition from the APPA, which recognizes the work and dedication that the RFMU team members put into their jobs each and every day,” said Kevin Westhuis, Utility Director with the City of River Falls. “We always strive for safety first and foremost, and our team takes great pride in continuing to foster a safe work environment while providing essential services for our community.”
