[ARCHIVED] Burning Ban in Effect

Effective immediately, the River Falls Fire Department is joining its counterparts in Hudson and Prescott in implementing a burning ban within their respective cities. Townships in the area have also implemented the ban. This burning ban includes all recreational fire, controlled burns and other burns that require a burning permit. Burning permits that have been issued are suspended until the ban is lifted.

River Falls Fire Chief Scott Nelson is asking that people get the word out to their friends and neighbors and to remind people of the ban if they have any type of outside fire.

Grilling is permitted during the ban but extra caution should be taken when cooking outside. Have a hose ready and be sure to grill on a non-combustible surface.

Unfortunately, this ban will likely extend over the Labor Day Holiday until the area gets significant rainfall.
