There probably won’t be many more chances to hear about the volatile and sometimes violent Civil Rights movement of the 1960s from someone who was actually there – someone who was not afraid to stand up to the KKK in Greensboro, N.C., in a county that at the time advertised itself as “Klan Country.”
River Falls resident Julie Coates Draves, a veteran of the rallies and marches, will be talking about her firsthand experiences and meetings with some of the big names in the struggle for racial equality.
